Walsh Waste – Health & Safety Awards

Walsh Waste ltd; Galway’s leading Waste Management Company today announced it has been formally awarded registration to Environmental Management system ISO 14001:2004 and Occupational Health And Safety OHSAS 18001:2007 standards for integrated management systems by BQAI.

Building on a successful track record the company achieved the quality management standard ISO 9001 in 2009 and is the West of Irelands only waste management company to achieve all three certificates. The ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 were awarded following a rigorous auditing process carried out by BQAI. The certification means the company has been independently certified and awarded the internationally recognised environmental and health & safety standard for its Craughwell and Oranmore facilities

Commenting on the certification, Gerard Walsh, Managing Director of Walsh Waste Ltd, said, “We are delighted to have achieved both ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 as it represents independent confirmation of Walsh Waste’s world class waste management services credentials. We provide very high service levels across a range of business and we continue to work hard to ensure we not only meet the most stringent quality, environmental and health & safety standards of our clients but that we also adopt an environmental and health & safety awareness culture within Walsh Waste. This certification demonstrates our commitment to protecting all our stakeholders from an environmental and health & safety perspective”

ISO 14001 is the most widely used framework for environmental management in the world. It requires companies to establish an environmental policy, determine environmental impacts, and implement and continually improve their environmental management system through measurable targets and management reviews. Similarly OHSAS 18001is an internationally recognised occupational health and safety system that aims to eliminate or minimise risk associated to employee’s daily activities and job scopes.

Gerard continued, “Increasingly companies are required to achieve or maintain compliance with environmental, health and safety standards. Many organisations are eager to do business with a service provider that has a certified Environmental and Health and Safety programme in place. Walsh Waste is delighted to be in a position to offer our clients the highest quality, environmental and Health and safety standards.

Walsh Waste is a family owned and managed business spanning over 40 years. It provides both solid and liquid waste collection and recycling services within the commercial and domestic market space.
