140 Litre Bin
This is the smallest of our wheeled bin containers and is designed to collect small volumes of waste. It is most suited to the collection of organic/food waste given the heavy nature and frequent collection of this waste stream.
This bin can also be used for mixed glass if your premises has space constraints.

240 Litre Bin
This wheeled bin is used for the collection of glass, general waste and recyclables. It is primarily used as a domestic bin and outside of the domestic sector this versatile bin size can be used where there is limited space or access and for temporary/ special events.
660 Litre Bin
This four wheeled container can be used for the collection of glass, mixed recyclables and general waste. This bin is capable of fitting through a standard door and is suitable for large or small volumes of all waste types.
1100 Litre Bin
This four wheeled container is the most popular commercial bin available and can be used for the collection of general waste and mixed recyclables. Locks are fitted to this bin as standard.
360 Litre Bin
This is a small commercial wheeled bin and is used for the collection of glass, general waste and mixed recyclables. Typically it would be used where waste volumes are low or if your premises have space constraints.
The Molok semi-underground bin was first introduced on the Irish market by Walsh Waste in 2004 and has been successfully applied in a variety of locations including hotels, apartment blocks, manufacturing and sports facilities.
The molok is an innovative way of dealing with waste, more compact and hygienic than surface bins.

Septic Tank Cleaning Walsh Waste has been running a septic tank cleaning and empting service in Galway since 1979.
A septic tank is simply a buried watertight tank which receives and provides primary treatment of raw waste. It works by separating and retaining settling and floatable solids.
Grease and other light materials float to the top and form a scum layer. Effluent with a very low solid content, leaves via the outlet ‘T-pipe’ to the percolation area. The organic solids undergo liquefaction and are partially broken down into dissolved acids and gases.
A septic tank consists of five components:
A sewer pipe that carries waste from your home to the tank
The tank itself
A pipe carrying the treated waste water from the tank to your percolation area
A percolation area to disperse the treated water
The soil/media around the percolation area that provides the final treatment
Your can extend the life of your septic tank by watching what goes into it. This means NO food scraps, sands, gravel, greases, oils etc. Beware of chemicals and solvents that will kill the helpful bacteria in your tank.
Finally, have your septic tank emptied or cleaned annually as sludge and scum must not be allowed to accumulate and enter the soak away.

Grease Trap Maintenance
Walsh Waste can also ensure that your grease trap system operates efficiently, by means of a maintenance schedule, bringing the maximum benefit for your business, as well as ensuring that you are in compliance with EPA guidelines and Local Authority Management Programmes.

By using Walsh Waste for maintenance of your grease trap we will set up a suitable maintenance schedule that will completely eliminate the need for chemical / enzyme dosing systems. A large number of our customers have completely eliminated these expensive dosing systems and made substantial savings when they changed over to a regular maintenance schedule. We believe these enzyme dosing systems are of limited benefit and are literally money down the drain.
Drain Cleaning with Water Recycling ‘Using water from fire hydrants of drinking water quality to clean drains makes no sense. Drinking water is much too valuable for cleaning sewers. With commercial water charges already in place drain cleaning with water recycling is the only sustainable solution to maintaining your storm and sewer pipe networks’
Sparing use of natural resources With the water recycling system up to 240,000 litres of fresh water per day are saved, given a flushing rate of 400 litres per minute and a flushing period of 10 hours. A typical local authority commercial water charge is €1 per m3 of water. If the above truck was operated without water recycling it would use up to €240 worth of water over a 10 hour working day. 240 m3 of water is the equivalent of approximately 8 No. 30 m3 arctic tankers of water.

Water Recycling Process
1. Flushing A high-pressure water hose with a sewer flushing nozzle is fed into the soiled sewer. The high-pressure water jet dislodges the dirt and flushes it to back to the manhole. At the same time, the water jet pushes the hose further into the sewer.
2. Vacuuming The water and debris flushed into the manhole is extracted by means of a high volume liquid ring vacuum pump. Solids and water are thus conveyed by the suction hose into the sludge tank.
3. Water recycling Water and solids are separated in the sludge tank using a primary screen and then a self-cleaning filter. The filtered water is then passes through a cyclone system where it is reused for pipe cleaning purposes via the high pressure water pump. The water passes through the cyclones at a rate of 4:1. This means the water has effectively passed through the cyclones 4 times before it is reused for sewer cleaning using the high pressure jetting pump. This ensures that all debris and silt is removed from the water and deposited back into the sludge tank
Walsh Waste have the specialist equipment and personnel to carry out the cleaning, decontamination and removal of both hazardous and non-hazardous contaminants in drains, sewers, interceptors and lagoons.
Before any cleaning, it is crucial to fully understand the job required. That’s why our teams will carry out a site survey, risk assessment, produce a method statement and analyse the waste to be removed. This ensures we have the equipment necessary to do the job in a way that is cost effective and environmentally friendly.
High performance vehicles and accessories from our specialist fleet can work at depths of up to 25 metres, via openings of just 100 millimetres, to remove large volumes of liquid waste quickly and efficiently.
Our water recycling units can operate as a conventional jetter unit together with the continuous recycling of water. This enables the unit to spend more time on the cleaning process before replenishing the jetting water.
If large volumes of waste are to be lifted from lagoons or interceptors, the waste can be processed on site using our mobile dewatering units or centrifuges. The filtrate can either be reused on site or disposed of to drain. This cuts disposal costs and returns impressive savings.
Over a period of time deterioration of drains and sewers can take place for many different reasons. By providing a CCTV survey, Walsh can quickly identify the reason for the problem and make recommendations on the best possible solution. See our CCTV section for more on this.
Walsh Waste have made a considerable investment over the years and businesses are now benefiting from our state-of-the-art fleet which includes tankers up to 33 m3 (7300 gallons) in capacity – for the larger jobs.
We also have heavy sludge pumping tankers and a liquid ring tanker fitted with high pressure jetting equipment. Stainless steel tankers are used for the safe disposal of corrosive materials. These are compliant to ADR regulations.
The old saying ‘time is money’ is as true in waste management as in every other business, and we are constantly looking for ways to offer value for money.
In Bulk Tankering, capacities of up to 33-tonne payloads mean that we can use fewer tanker runs, speeding up the job and cutting down the cost. This reduction in traffic movement on your site also helps to reduce environmental damage. We also offer a range of 4, 6 and 8-wheeled rigid tankers.
Our vehicles are fitted with specialist onboard equipment such as jetting lances, and we use tipping tankers for the speedy emptying of waste within the barrels.We can also remove heavy waste like bentonite, clay slurry and grout slurry.
More complex projects involving combinations of vacuum tankers, jet tankers and articulated tankers are allocated a specific management resource.
Tanks, pump stations, septic tanks and grease traps are not designed for man entry, which makes cleaning a highly specialised operation.
Walsh Waste have a wealth of experience in the cleaning and decontamination of tanks and vessels.Whatever a tank contains or has been used for in the past, we can supply the appropriate vehicle or high airflow unit to remove any contamination.
Where it is possible to clean a tank externally, we often use water jetting to remove the residue. Water is added to the tank and agitated, and at an appropriate pressure for the volume the contents are then pumped out for disposal.
We are also highly trained and equipped to place people inside a tank for cleaning. As with other instances of man-entry, we produce a full risk assessment and gain a confined space permit to work, as well as completing any tests for contaminants. A team can then be assigned, instructed by a qualified team leader.
We can also perform a tank inspection, which will identify the need for repair or renovation – just leave it to us to make it fully operational once more.
Walsh Waste’s detailed reports identify the exact location of problem areas. For certain waste removal or cleaning problems, there will be no apparent solution using conventional equipment or manpower. This calls for the use of CCTV.

The sludge is spread exclusively on landbanks that is utilised for the growing of energy crops with oilseed rape being the primary crop. When oilseed rape is crushed it produces one-third of its weight as pure plant oil which can be further modified and turned into biodiesel.
Regular cleaning and emptying of oil or petrol interceptor systems helps protect you against the possibility of environmental incidents, which could be extremely costly — in fines and clean up charges, not to mention damage to the environment.

Drainage Interceptors and Gullies Interceptors are designed to allow only water to drain from the outlets; pollutants such as fuel oil and solids stay within the confines of the interceptor.
The accumulation of oil silt debris and other miscellaneous contaminants within an interceptor increases the risk of forecourt flooding and leads to pollution and contamination of sewage systems or watercourses. In addition to this, there is the additional risk associated with holding flammable residues on site.
Slot drains are a regular feature on forecourts and regularly become blocked if not cleaned regularly. Cleaning these types of drains requires specialised equipment and a high level of operator awareness and experience.
